On the road to gender equality in tourism
The road to a level playing field for women in tourism is paved with hurdles and hardships. Despite the paramount importance of gender equality for sustainable and comprehensive growth in the sector, women in tourism continue to face an uphill battle, being underrepresented in high-ranking positions, having fewer career advancement opportunities and bearing the brunt of precarious or low-paid work. Overcoming these disparities calls for a concerted effort from gender-aware policies to empowering women and fostering inclusivity at all levels within the travel and tourism ecosystem.
